About Samuel Brown

Owner of Abram’s Flat Glass.

I was first introduced to the world of glass and glazing in the early 1990’s at a newly established small glass company in Milford, Connecticut.
It was an exciting period, as I began working part-time with friends of my family. Each day presented an opportunity to blend creativity and technical challenges as I grew to understand the nature of glass and complexities of applying it to construction. Coming from a background dominated by fast-food jobs, the transition to working with glass and construction felt like stepping into a new realm!

I found immense gratification working with glass and glazing materials, and in 1993 glass work transformed from a part-time endeavor to a full-time passion. I quickly came to realize that skills in the glass glazing trade demand a significant investment, not only in literature, but also in hands on experience working alongside seasoned professionals in the industry. I feel very fortunate to have been surrounded by a diverse group of highly skilled glaziers, whose expertise provided insight that no book could provide.

In the early 2000’s, a significant change hit the glass industry in Connecticut: the state mandated that all employees of glass companies obtain a license within thirty days of employment. This was a pivotal moment in my career as I prepared for and emerged from my examination as a fully qualified “Glass Glazier”. The thrill of receiving that credential was exhilarating- a testament to my hard work and dedication.

Between 2004 and 2016, I worked for several different glass companies in both Connecticut and South Carolina. Eventually, my family decided to settle into South Carolina to enjoy the warmer climate and make a fresh start. It was here that I began to dream of building something of my own. In February 2016, that dream became a reality, and Abram’s Flat Glass was born. The early days were a bit slow as I balanced full-time work with my entrepreneurial aspirations. However, in 2022, as the world continued to emerge from the shadows of COVID, I decided to pivot my focus. I homed in on the growing demand of residential windows and custom shower enclosures, while also catering to small or medium commercial storefront applications.

Each project is a new opportunity to embrace the challenges and rewards that come with building my own business in the ever-evolving world of glass work. I look forward to learning about your unique glass needs and am excited to collaborate with you on your next project. Whether you are needing window repair, a custom shower enclosure, or any similar glass application, I’m here to help turn your ideas into reality.
